Cleaning Window Screens Easily

When it comes to cleaning windows, many people forget about the screens. Screens can mire the work that you do with your glass surfaces, which is why you should look into a few tips that can help with cleaning screens once and for all. While you don’t have to clean these every single time you go to clean windows, it should be done with a bit of frequency. You don’t want dust and grime to cake on the screen for too long, which is why the following methodology is so important.

Start With Warm Water

The first thing that you need to do is simple, get a bucket and fill it with warm water. You don’t want it too hot, but just a bit warm. After you have that ready, add dishwashing soap. Only a few drops will be needed here, and mix it a little. You will want to get a simple brush and put it into the mixture you’ve just made and then use that to rub the interior of the screen. You want to go with circular motions as you’ll be brushing the screen elements and clearing debris as you go.

Tapping The Screen

Using a lint free towel, you’ll want to tap your screen or whip it a little to get excess water to fall away from the interior. This will also help ensure that anything that is stuck inside the holes that your screen has gets cleared from debris as well. You don’t want to hit the screen too hard, but rather focus on gentle taps, and whips so that you can shake the water off a little.

Air Drying

Once you have gone through the above process, you’ll want to place your screens in a sunny, dry area. That will ensure that everything gets dry completely. Once things are dried, you can place them back on the windows and you’ll have simple, clean screens.

Tough Options

Some screens are going to be very dirty, and can be tough to clean with the above methods. When you encounter heavy dirt and grime, you can easily use a vacuum cleaner to pull dirt and debris away from the screen. If you have a vacuum that has an upholstery brush, then use it to gently brush the screen before you go through the aforementioned steps. Doing this will help you get more cleaning power moving forward, and will have greater results overall. Take your time with this, and you’ll get through the cleaning process with ease.
